The joint press conference of the Athletics Federation of Serbia and the Porsche SCG Company was held today in the press centre of Belgrade’s Kombank Arena where the choice of Volkswagen as the official vehicle brand of the European Indoor Championships 2017 was the crowning feature of the long and fruitful cooperation between these two institutions.

The conference was attended by President of the Athletics Federation Veselin Jevrosimović, General Secretary of the Athletics Federation Slobodan Branković, a famous athlete Asmir Kolašinac and Volkswagen brand Manager Milan Lazić on behalf of the Porsche SCG Company.

“We are very proud to be in the company of successful sportspeople and their coaches. Our long-term cooperation with the Athletics Federation of Serbia continues to the mutual satisfaction at this competition which is very important not only for all our athletes but also for their colleagues from Europe. Belgrade and Serbia are privileged to stage such a big competition and Volkswagen, with its models Tiguan, Passat and Caddy, has the honour to be the official vehicle of the Championships and to provide support to its organization.” said Milan Lazić.

The European Indoor Championships 2017 held in Belgrade’s Kombank Arena at the beginning of March (3-5 March) is going to host more than 1,000 athletes, coaches, officials and judges. The beautiful Kombank Arena is completely adapted for the indoor championships in athletics in accordance with the highest standards prescribed by the European Athletics Federation so that it can sit about 10,000 spectators.

“This is the biggest contract the Athletics Federation of Serbia has ever signed. I hope that the cooperation with Volkswagen will continue in the future and that they will also stand by our side after the European Championships,” said Branković.

After the press conference, the Porsche SCG Company officially handed 38 Volkswagen vehicles to be used by athletes and the organisers of the European Indoor Championships.

Veselin Jevrosimović pointed out that this is extremely important for our Federation and athletics. “The value of these vehicles is more than a million Euros which speaks volumes about the importance of the contract.”

The Porsche SCG Company and Volkswagen continue supporting sportspeople in Serbia and increasing their motivation to achieve top results, hopefully to be seen at this prestigious competition as well.

The best Serbian shot putter Asmir Kolašinac has been driving a Volkswagen’s Golf for two years: ”There isn’t a single bad thing I could say about this car. I’m more than satisfied with the conditions, which is clear from the fact that I’ve covered more than 50,000km in the last two years. I’m honoured to have been chosen to get a car from this company and I hope the others will be as satisfied as I am.”
