The Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali and the Chairman of the City Assembly Nikola Nikodijevic visited Kombank Arena and its facilities – main Arena where the construction works for the European Indoor Championships are underway and small Arena which has just been completed.

Sinisa Mali stated that there are only seven days left until the biggest sports manifestation of this year in Belgrade – European Indoor Championships.
‘Kombank Arena is completely ready. We managed to raise the athletic track up to three and a half meters above the ground where only last year stood the pool.  Once again we proved that we can perform the most difficult tasks as well as to fulfill all the promises. Belgrade will host more than 800 athletes and we also expect thousands of guest from Serbia and abroad. This will be a terrific opportunity to promote Belgrade and sport and I am sure we will live up to the challenge’ , said Mali.

The Mayor is especially proud of how the brand new small Arena looks after renovations. It was out of order for ten years and now serves as a venue where many young athletes will train to become champions.

‘After the Championships, the small Arena will be used by the young athletes and as an Indoor for different sports for the youth of this city’, said the Mayor and went on to invite citizens of Belgrade, Serbia and the region to visit this sports manifestation and enjoy watching the best athletes of Europe.

Nikola Nikodijevic highlighted that Belgrade became the leader when comes to organising sports competitions in both the region and Europe and added that this is one of many competitions which will be successfully hosted by our capital.

‘Small Arena is finally functional so the sports capacity has been significantly raised and the children of Belgrade can train at 1.800 square meters. Three basketball and two tennis courts can fit in the small Arena’, said Nikodijevic.

The event was attended by the President of the Athletic Federation of Serbia Veselin Jevrosimovic , General Secretary of the Athletic Federation of Serbia and the Director of the ‘Atletika 2017’ company Slobodan Brankovic, the Director of the Kombank Arena Djordje Milutinovic, Secretary for Sport and Youth ad interim Slavko Gak, and Dragoljub Kočović, Deputy for Sport and Youth ad interim.
