Preparations for the biggest athletics event held in this part of Europe are underway. Countdown for the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade's Kombank Arena from 3-5 March 2017 began today.

For this reason Belgrade hosted press conference for media at the Athletic Indoor center. Slobodan Brankovic President of the local organising committee, Predrag Momirovic Director of the competition, Slobodan Popovic Secretary of the Federation and Milan Cirilovic marketing representative, spoke before their guests.

'Organisation of an athletic spectacle is going as planned and today, 100 days before the Championships is an opportunity to thank Ministry of Youth and Sports and the City of Belgrade for their support once again. Thanks to them we will organise the biggest event in the history of Serbia. Considering we bought movable athletic track we will be able to place it into one of cities in Serbia after the competition and in that way create a new Athletic Indoor. We would also like to thank our sponsors at MTS, Volkswagen and Dunav osiguranje that are supporting us.In the upcoming weeks we plan to sign a few more contracts with several respectable companies and partners.' - said Slobodan Brankovic, President of the Local Organising Comittee.

On this occasion a summary of existing and potential setbacks and solutions found in the organisation during the official European Athletics visit was completed. The Director of the competition reminded us of the number of applicants for the Championships (705 from 48 countries that preliminary applied are going to compete in 26 disciplines, 355 men and 350 women) while Slobodan told us about our athletes' preparations and plans for the competition in March.

'All of our representatives are healthy and will soon start their preparations for the European Indoor Championships in March. Most of them will prepare in Serbia while Mihail Dudas and Tamara Salaski will train in South Africa. It is still early for predictions but we are sure that they will give their best to achieve top results before the home crowd in Kombank Arena' - concluded Slobodan Popovic, Secretary of the Federation.

In order to organise the European Indoor Championships a number of 450 volunteers is a must. They will support 12 sectors: accommodation, transport, press, sport, attache, logistics, protocol, ceremonies, accreditation, IT, medicine and fans. More than 700 volunteers applied so far and more than 600 interviews has been done. Final round is underway. Besides volunteers from Serbia more than 50 people from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Turkey, Netherlands, Belgium, Armenia and Georgia applied for these positions.

At the end of their meeting a set promotional videos starring our five athletes (Ivana Spanovic, Asmir Kolasinac, Lazar Anic, Amela Terzic and Mihail Dudas) were played before the guests. These videos will be used during the marketing campaign of the 2017 European Indoor Championships. Our athletes invite home fans to purchase the tickets for the competition on time  and be a significant part of the spectacle. Tickets are now available at the 'Eventim ticket sales' as well as website http://www.belgrade2017.org/sr/tickets
