“I am delighted with the medal and the new national record jump. I have hoped that these championships would be the place where I would surpass the seven meter magical barrier, however, it was not to be, but I am, nevertheless satisfied. This is not the end of my endeavours; this is just another step in my career. I will continue to push the limits,” said Spanovic.

Marguenara Sosthene Taroum from Germany won the silver medal with the result of 6.83m, while the bronze medal went to Marincu Flarentini from Romania, who jumped 6.79m.

At the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Prague, Serbia was represented by six athletes who returned home with one gold medal and a new national record in the long jump and one silver medal in the shot-put.
